unrecognized database format

Tuesday, 22 September 2009 14:13 by cdeschamps

Where does this problem come from?

Because of the limitations of an Access database, it sometimes happen that you can not open your planning anymore.

How to solve this problem without sending our support your database?

Here is the process to follow in order to solve this problem immediately:

Open the "pp" file with MS Access.

You will then get this message:

Press Yes.

Then, close MS Access and open your database again. The planning is now working.

How to avoid this problem?

2 solutions:

Either you decide to migrate your database from MS Access to SQL Server for example.

Or, you can purge your planning (Menu File -> Database -> Purge) and compact it (Menu File -> Database -> Compact) in order to reduce the size of the database.

Check box Department in the Pivot Table

Wednesday, 9 September 2009 10:05 by cdeschamps

What is the check box "Department" in PlanningPME used for while creating reports via Pivot Table?

From the menu Tools -> Pivot Table, you can make some precised reports and export data from PlanningPME to Excel.

You can have the number of hours worked per month per resource or have any kind of statistics on your projects, tasks and/or employees vacation.

Now, you noticed the box "Department" on the Pivot Table window.

When should you use it?

You should tick on this box when you want to make statistics on your departments and that your resources are allocated to more than one department.

Let's take an example.

In the example below, Paul and Mary are part of 2 departments: S1 and S2.

Here are the settings used for this demo:

If we do not check the box "Department" the results are not correct:

The departments are not displayed correctly.

If we check the box "Department" the results are correct:

Day off management

Day off management

PlanningPME is a human resources management tool that helps you through managing your employee's days off (among many other functions). Day management is really easy. You can first define the kind of days off of your employees. To do so, go in Data --> Unavailabilities and add/modify the different datas.

Then you just have to assign one of these days off to a resource when necessary.
